Why should I become a global student teacher?
"Everyday I learn so much about myself and the world around me. As of right now,
I would not trade this experience in for anything else in the world."
I find it challenging on so many levels... excellent preparation for almost any
future class I might teach."
"Although nerve-wracking and exhausting at times, my teaching internship was
also exhilarating, challenging, and almost always, delightful."
"...student teaching overseas has prepared me as a global teacher with innovative
teaching strategies."
"Most importantly, I learned a great deal about myself. This experience was priceless
for what I gained from it."
These statements are quoted directly from placement feedback provided by former
GST participants.
How do I become a global student teacher?
"There’s no such thing as a free lunch" (Milton Friedman)
Well, actually, many international schools do offer free lunches, but you will have
to pay out first. There is a cost, but it is not as much as you may think when compared
to student teaching at home and/or being a tourist overseas - and you do get a lot
for your money. Find out what this expenditure covers from the PowerPoint or website
and how your college may help.
"Commitment unlocks the doors of imagination, allows vision, and gives us the "right
stuff" to turn our dreams into reality." (James Womack)
Participation requires commitment—it’s up to you to take responsibility for applying,
paying, arranging travel and accommodation—but it’s down to us to advise and assist
when we can.
"Every accomplishment starts with the decision to try" (Anon.)
If you are the right person for this program, and feel that you are making good
progress on your course, gain support of your college.
"We can lick gravity, but sometimes the paperwork is overwhelming." (Werner von
Braun)
In fact, it’s not rocket science: just complete the GST on-line application process
and we will find a placement for you.
"The person who gets the farthest is generally the one who is willing to do and
dare. The surething boat never gets far from shore." (Dale Carnegie)
Throughout the application process you will receive feedback and guidance and, once
accepted, a school placement will be made with reference to your own choices and
preferences.
